

EXPERIENCE
Andrew has approximately 12 ½ years previous chartered accounting public practice work experience in small practices in rural and Sydney locations dealing with business enterprises of micro businesses to high wealth individuals. This included a variety of rural industries, such as wool growing, various livestock production. Also cropping and horticulture such as broad-scale cropping, and horticulture and viticulture, leading to further processing in the production of wine. Other industrials and clients Andrew has had experience in providing services to included: manufacturers, the retail sector, the financial services sector, professionals in the medical, legal, architectural and engineering areas. Other experience from chartered public practice included statutory financial statement preparation and extensive auditing experience of clubs and associations, nursing homes, solicitor’s and real estate agents trust accounts. Finally in this area I was also involved in the tax preparation and tax planning of individuals, partnerships, trusts, companies and superannuation funds.
Andrew moved to the public sector, the Australian Taxation Office in October 2008 and spent a 1 ½ years in the High Wealth Individuals (HWI) area, 9 months in the Public Groups and Internationals (PGI) area, and spent the last 8 1/2 years in the self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs) area. In the HWI’s area I reviewed the tax positions and performance of various private individual and company groups, monitoring income tax compliance. In Superannuation was where Andrew conducted most of his work, reviewing and auditing SMSF’s and their compliance with the superannuation laws and regulations, and associated income tax laws. This involved in-depth audits of SMSF’s, trustees and members of SMSF’s, tax agents activities in relation to SMSF’s and finally the approved SMSF auditors’, where Andrew spent the last 3 - 4 years of his service with the ATO, successfully disqualifying many approved SMSF auditors who failed the multiple tests required to satisfy the competencies, skills and requirements to remain as approved SMSF auditors. The review and audit of all these persons and entities required; detailed planning and profiling parties, interviewing and gathering and collating information and documents, interviewing individuals and obtaining information from field visits, preparation of written reports to be approved by ATO senior staff and legal teams.

INTERESTS
Andrew is married to his wife Christina, and they have 2 Siamese cats – Tilly and Charlie. Andrew is has a large military library, and enjoys reading military history and history generally.
Andrew has been an active member of the NSW Rural Fire Service for over 23 years, and has received the NSW RFS 10 year long Service Medal and 20 year Bar, as well as the ACT Emergency Medal for his contribution during the 2003 Canberra fires.
In similarly with Stephen, Andrew also enjoys a ‘good’ single malt ‘speyside’ or ‘highland’ scotch whisky, and owns a kilt!
